I do remember the 1956 Hungarian Uprising , but only later on was aware of the effect it had on the UK and other Communist Parties . Contortions were also the order of the day following the Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939 .
Mélenchon is a French example, while in the UK the usual suspects would be Diane Abbott , Corbyn and Sultana.A "tankie" is a political insult. It describes a communist or hard-left socialist who defends authoritarian governments, specifically when those states use military force to crush opposition.
Origin of the Word started in 1956.Used inside the Communist Party of Great Britain.Meant to target members who supported sending Soviet tanks into Hungary to stop an anti-communist uprising.
