Ouf , a 'good' morning here after all !
Phone died last night and I really needed it for 7AM tomorrow when a driver was supposed to pick me up for a 100km trip to the Uni hospital (CHU) that morning . Luckily my phone tells me who is trying to call so I could get back to the local hospital on landline .......
at first the CHU secretary said the next rendezvous is in June (Definitely Aaaagh ! ). When I explained that my treatment runs out on the 20th, she fitted me in on the 19th . So am getting a transfusion locally tomorrow morning !
The coldest part of the kitchen is 18, in normal health that's enough, but my blood doesn't agree, I'm freezing so lit stove

I was wondering if the Guardian was blocking me, no comments seen at the Sparrow, but he said it was their lawyers forbidding them ! Well just as likely they are short of mods... but I reckon it's even more likely that the reality of comments against Starmer Reed and co would have been overwhelming ?

On Sky's overheating attic problem My Latina half-sister used some of her second Biden stimulus check to buy a simple AC . She vents it out into the corridor , rather than the usual outside wall or window, and it helps for sleep

An update on British Gas setting up my account in the name of a Bond actor.
I had a disappointing web chat last week with them that wasn't as funny as I was hoping it would be. It was also a complete waste of time because after changing my tariff they sent me a new letter addressed to the bond actor which I received today. Tried the web chat again ended up communicating with someone equally humourless but this time they wanted photos of my drivers licence or passport to prove my name wasn't that of a Bond actor. I have neither so went on am incredulous mini rant asking why I had to prove my identity when it was them who had so ridiculously fucked up. Next thing I know 'The agent has ended the conversation'. They fucking hung up on me!
Not to be deterred I rang them up, ended up talking to a lady in a South African call centre, and she was brilliant. She looked up my details as they'd been entered into the system by the scouse lad who'd set up my account and couldn't believe the mess he'd made of it, so much so she wondered aloud about the state of British education. It took her all of 2 minutes to fix everything and now when I log into the account online It's in my own name at last. No need for photos of ID or sacrificing chickens. All it took was talking to one competent, reasonable human being.
Give it another year or two and that option will be gone. We'll be stuck with the idiot 'AI' bots and if you've got an issue remotely out of the ordinary you'll be screwed.
Anyway I raise a glass to that lady, a Martini, shaken not stirred of course.
(I jest, I detest Vermouth).

Re: Tuesday 5th May 2026
It's been quite chilly today. As an experiment I've stuck my old analogue thermometer on the windowsill outside for the last couple of days. It currently reads 8°. Inside? 19.2°.
Which is quite nice to be honest, but I am going to die in the Summer.
Thanks Froggy for the ad hoc AC suggestion but we have the highest electricity charges in the world, running such a rig for about 5 minutes would leave me in debt ridden penury for the rest of my life.
