I wonder how popular it's going to prove when cis women and men who jobsworth zealous freaks think 'look a bit trans' end up having to show their birth certificates to go for a piss in a pub or restaurant.

Keir, if you're going to sabotage Burnham you're going to need to be more subtle than that.

QT came tonight from Dumfries so probably about as mixed an audience as you're going to get in Scotland.

For Labour we had Kirsty McNeill. Poor Kirsty. She seems like a nice lady and was clearly trying her best but given the material she had to work with she was always going to struggle. On everything from the cost of living, to North sea oil, to Russian sanctions all she had to offer was technocratic waffle about tinkering here, doing a little bit there...Starmer's Labour in a nutshell. If anything she ably demonstrated how much they need a massive kick up the arse. But on the plus side she did use my favourite Scottish word 'scunnered'* which caused me to let out a small cheer so there was that.

For Reform we had Thomas Kerr. I know this is neither big nor clever but throughout the evening I couldn't stop marvelling at how much Thomas looked like a giant slug had rolled around on a barber's floor, got bits of hair randomly stuck to it, then been stuffed into a man's suit. Thomas had the gall to claim that the way to deal with the cost of living crisis was to cut taxes, when we've all seen what every Reform council in England has done. Thomas seemed to think that drilling in the North Sea would bring down bills and provide energy security when even the oil industries' own forecasts say otherwise. Thomas expressed irritation at even having to discuss Scottish independence as if democracy and self determination were a burdensome anathema to him. Thomas got a smattering of applause for saying all of these things. Fucks sake.

For the SNP we had Stephen Flynn. If Stephen hadn't been a politician he would have made a great horror actor. The way he can look at his opponents with a big grin on his face while simultaneously appearing like he could kill them at any second is splendid. To be honest he never had to get out of third gear tonight, apart from failing to properly explain how the SNP's proposed price cap on certain (unspecified) foods would work (even I think that's bonkers without state guaranteed prices for farmers).

For the Greens we had Ross Greer. If the audience was anything to go by Ross was the star of the show, and I would have to agree with them. Ross asked why kids should be turning up at school hungry while supermarkets make billions in profits. Ross asked why people should be afraid to turn their heating on while the likes of BP make billions in profits. Questions I think a lot of us would like answered.

For the Conservatives we had Harriet Cross. Harriet is an Aberdeen Tory MP so basically said 'drill, baby, drill'. Completely ignoring the fact that the decline of the North Sea oil fields and the exodus of oil workers began under the stewardship of her own party.

*Scunnered - disgusted.
